How to Setup your E-mail Account - Apple Mail for Mac OS X:
Open Mail.
The Welcome to Mail screen should pop up.
If you are not setting up Apple Mail for the first time, follow steps 5 to 7 and click on the + sign in the lower left-hand corner of the Accounts screen to add your new account.
In the Full Name field, type your display name (it will appear on the From field when you send out messages)
In the Email Address field, type your full email address, for example johndoe@communityname.org
In the Incoming mail server field, type in: mail.communityname.org
Click the arrow box on the Account Type pop-up list and choose POP
In the User Name field, type your email address username@communityname.org. for example johndoe if your email address is johndoe@communityname.org
In the Password field, type your Schat.net email password.
In the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) field, type in: mail.communityname.org
Click the OK button.
Note: At this point, MAC Mail will attempt to contact the mail server. If it fails, click the Continue button on the warning message that appears to continue with the set up.
Click the No button when asked if you want to import mailboxes.
Click the No button when asked if you want to see what's new.
From the Mail menu, choose Preferences.
Click the Accounts icon.
Click the Server Settings button in the lower section of your account information.
A dialog box called SMTP Server Options will pop up.
In the Outgoing Mail Server field, type in: mail.communityname.org
Server port should be changed to 45
The checkbox called Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) should NOT be checked
Click the arrow box on the Authentication pop-up list and choose Password
In the User Name field, type your username
In the Password field, type your password
Click the OK button
Close the Accounts window, and click the Save button.
To Set Up Your E-mail Account in Microsoft Outlook Express/Windows Mail:
In Microsoft Outlook Express, from the Tools menu, select Accounts.
Go to the Mail tab and from the Add menu, select Mail.
In the Display Name field, enter your full name and click Next.
In the E-mail address field, enter your email address and click Next.
On the E-mail Server Names page, complete your information as follows:
My incoming mail server is a POP3 .
Incoming Mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP server: mail.communityname.org Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: mail.communityname.org Click Next
In the Account Name and Password fields, enter your email address and password, and then click Next.
On the setup confirmation page, click Finish.
On the Mail tab, select the account you just created, and then click Properties.
Go to the Advanced tab.
In the Server Port Numbers section, change Outgoing mail (SMTP) to 45, and then click OK.
(Optional) If you want to keep a copy of email messages stored on your email provider's servers, in the Delivery section, select Leave a copy of messages on server.
Your Outlook Express account is now set up. Click Close to close the Internet Accounts window and return to your Outlook Express.
